The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) is one of the three federal programs managed through Express Entry.

This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 job category who want to immigrate to Canada permanently and is considered a popular program. Applicants who have work experience in a TEER 4 or 5 category could be eligible for one of the other programs that fall under Express Entry.

The minimum requirements for skilled work experience, language ability, and education have to be met before you will be assessed on factors that form part of a 100-point grid.

The current pass mark is 67.

If you meet all the minimum requirements mentioned above, you will then be assessed and scored based on:

  • age

  • education

  • work experience

  • whether you have a valid job offer

  • English and/or French language skills

  • adaptability (how well you’re likely to settle here)

Eligibility Requirements are as follows:

  • Proof of CLB 7 in all four language abilities

  • Canadian secondary or post-secondary degree, or a completed foreign credential accompanied by an Education Credential Assessment (ECA)

  • One year of continuous full-time paid work experience in the same job within the last ten years in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 job category

  • Proof of funds

  • You must plan to live outside the province of Quebec.
